Opinion On “Martin Feldstein: The Economy Is Worse Than You Think”
Re-read the article. Mr. Feldstein stated that the stimulus did not spend enough in the right places, not that it wasn't big enough. By turning the stimulus into a pork barrel of political party favors, Obama, Reid, Pelosi, et al defeated any possibility of the stimulus actually replacing the fall off in consumer spending, either in quantity or in timing.
As for the military spending, he did not state that this was the only way to have more effectively More
My Take On “Martin Feldstein: The Economy Is Worse Than You Think”
I don't find Professor Feldstein's piece convincing. While he well may be right that the administration's efforts at stimulus weren't big enough to offset the huge crash brought about by the excesses allowed and encouraged by the prior administration, that doesn't really mean that such stimulus was wrong, just insufficiently large. But given the savagely obstructionist responses of the GOP, it's unclear to me how much more could have been done in this More
An Opinion On “How to Fix Your Résumé”
I find this interesting in light of efforts to require ONLY a resume objective statement when applying for a Federal Civil Service position. (No more supplemental KSA statements.)
Here, we see that a savy manager--with (prior) assistance from experts--left out information that would be key in scoring an application for rating purposes.
Resumes typically do not provide sufficient information for Federal rating purposes, but we will probably change More
My View On “Google Will No Longer Censor Search Results in China”
One of the best ways for Chset in your waysa to slit it's own throat is to let Google leave - and throttle all of their citizens in even more draconian ways.
They can use their 2 trillion dollars and have a party - till that money runs out and they have a real revolution.
Of course - We will not expect to hear any support from Obama - Yea, yea, Hillary said something in Hawaii or some such - but Obama does not care - if anything, I imagine Obama wants More
Views On “Thomas Frank: Rand Paul’s Bad Week”
You cite no sources for your first claim and your second claim would require you be a soothsayer.
Even citizens of a state as backward as Kentucky are unlikely to be enamored of Rand Paul's idealization of returning to segregation de jure for 90% of public accommodations. Most of them have come to accept the casual dating sharing of transit, stores, colleges, bathrooms, diners, etc., with people of every shade and hue. Only in the fever swamps More
My Analysis On “Deciding Where to Retire”
We were just having this discussion for the first time last month after 33 years of marriage. We are still building toward retirement, with two small business we own along with working full time, we are hoping to sell one or both busnesses within the next 3 years to lead path to retirement. However, she is married to her profession and community while I am not and intend to escape CA congestion, taxes and people asap and find a suitable place to live. More
Opinion On “Todd Zywicki: Dodd”
The latter situation was a major issue with my college freshman daughter. When she had no money in her account, she got no warning from the debit card transaction but I ended up paying $150 in overdraft fees every month. I could not get her to check her balance regularly online. Finally we went to another offshore bank account to open an account for her and her mother handled that card. The first bank, which I have done business with for 40 years, More
Some Thoughts On “Raid at Gibson Guitar Strikes Sour Note”
Gibson has made these guitars here for decades, no problems with the law. Some low-level genius decides he can get boost his government law enforcement resume advice by raiding Gibson. Why does he still have a job? Why hasn't the assistant attorney general for enforcement rained on this parade of errors by now and stopped it cold in it's tracks; then turn the track around and put everything right with Gibson? When I read that story, I was totally floored More
Analysis On “Republican Sees No Russia Arms”
Timothy you are delusional - I've been dealing with the people for years - the fastest way to lose weight way to restart a lose /lose scenario with them, is to act and say idiotic things like you have in this post... they are not choir boys for sure, and yes they are playing footsie with Fascism - but this is one of those kill-em with kindness opportunities... mind you i didn't say weakness.... and don't forget they have about 20% of all the world's More
Commentary On “Paul Wolfowitz: The Case for Backing Libya’s Rebels”
Memory is so short. Have we forgotten Huessine that this country made in Iraq to fight against Iran and eventually we had to spend billions and sacrifice so many lives to get rid of him. Now we are trying to get rid of Kahdaffi and going to help these Muslims who we don't even know. They will bite our hands once Kahdaffi is eliminated. It is not our war and the oil from Libya is mainly consumed by Europeans and it should be their fight not our's. We More
